and our customers is very important to us. Below you will find some common terms
used when discussing the health of your lawn, trees and shrubs.
annual bluegrass: (Poa annua) - A short, narrow leaf annual grass that
germinates in late summer to early fall.
Bermuda: (Cynodon dactylon) - An aggressive perennial creeping grass with
excellent heat and drought tolerance.
crabgrass: (Digitaria haller) - a broad leaf annual grass that grows well
with a full sun exposure.
dallis grass: (Paspalum dilatatum) - A tall perennial grass with a light green color.
henbit/dead-nettle: (Lamium amplexicaule) - A winter annual with rounded toothed leaves and pinkish
to pale purple colored trumpet shaped flowers.
mistletoe: (Phoradendron macrophyllum) - an evergreen plant with green
stems and thing oval leaves. The plant is a patasitic as it will typically
grow on a host tree causing damage to the host tree.
nutsedge: (Cyperus spp.) - A grass-like weed that grows from a tuber and
is a perennial plant.
St. Augustine: (Stenotaphrum secundatum) - A medium to broad leaf grass.
spurge: (Chamaesyce maculata) - A dark bluish green with a
reddish underneath low growing annual plant.
tree murdering - Severe trimming of trees to stimulate growth.
bagworms - (Thyridopteryx ephemeraeformis) -
A common caterpillar that can cause defoliation and tree branch dieback.
webworms - (Hyphantria cunea) - A small worm that will
spin webs in trees and brush. The webs are unsightly and can stress the plant to
make it suceptible to drought and disease.
