Watering your grass doesn’t have to be rocket science, but a lot of people ask the questions: How much, what time of day, and does it depend on the season and types of grasses?

Time of day:

Always set your sprinkler system to water between 5AM and 10AM

Important: In order to establish strong, healthy roots, its always best to water deeply and thoroughly, rather than more frequently.

Spring Watering

As we enter into Spring, our lawns and landscaping begin to come out of winter dormancy, which requires less water than during the summer months.

Based on your sprinkler system, our recommended watering practices are as follows:

  • Zone sprinkler systems is once a week
  • Spray sprinkler heads is 12 minutes a week
  • Rotary Sprinkler Heads is 26 minutes a week
  • Landscaping and drip line underground watering is 20 minutes per week

At this time of the year, roots are beginning to wake up and need to be fed. Spring air temperatures will start to climb into the 70-80’s and evaporation begins to occur between 10am and 6pm.
